Keywords:
Reading ability, early childhoodAbstract
This study aims to measure the reading ability of children aged 5-6 years at Siloam Kindergarten. The results show variations in reading ability influenced by internal factors, such as cognitive development and children's interests, as well as external factors, such as learning methods and parental involvement. As many as 90% of children can recognize letters, 80% are able to read simple syllables, 75% can read simple words, and 60% understand simple reading. Strategies such as phonics methods, parental roles, and interactive media have been shown to improve reading ability. This study shows that most children already have basic reading skills, but challenges in reading comprehension still need to be overcome to support future aademic success.
